TABLES CAN'T TOPPLE TABLE TOPPERS

Waveney Tables found current Division One league leaders the Waveney Dominators in commanding form.  Excellent performances by Paul Wilkinson and Andy Green saw them overcome the defensive guile of veteran Wally Ladmore in three set thrillers. Martin Peek and Andy Green both took a maximum three wins each before combining in the doubles to seal an impressive 9-1 victory.  Tables only point on night was secured by Stephen Cruikshanks who over powered Paul Wilkinson in the third set in an entertaining match full of attacking intent.

At the other end of the table, the Gorleston Conservatives found the going tough in their visit to Mill Lane. Thomas Baxter led the way for the Spartans with another three from three while Kevin Baker snatched victory against Malcolm Vasey before falling short of Reg Cadmore in a third set deuce. Trimwise tackled the Terminators in their first division clash, and while the new Men’s Champion Paul Wright Jnr continued his 100% season record with another full house, both Paul Wright Snr and Philip Tye picked up valuable wins from Charles Goddard to clinch the match for Trimwise 6-4. The Piranhas were once again short handed but it didn’t stop them blasting seven past the Oddbods. Both Ernie George and David Holland finished the game with three a piece before capping the evening in the doubles.

In the Second Division the David Willis kept the Shakers just out of range of the Arrows, but wins for Kevin Jones, Lauren Jones and Stuart Faulkner kept the match tight and only the three set doubles game forced the win for the LCC team. The Critters were startled early when Jonathan Block smashed two straight sets past Alan Peek. The Misfits remained competitive throughout the match and although the Critters would inevitably prevail, Block and Ollie Bailey teamed up for a final precious win in the doubles. Sidewaves continued to stack on the points at the top of the division two with a 7-3 win over the Beacons. Both Josh Baxter and John Smith caught out Kevin McLaughlin and then paired up for a doubles victory, but the experience of Terry Shetliffe and John Clarke ensured Sidewaves stay on course for promotion. The Hits meanwhile sit comfortably in second place with an 8-2 win over the Kites. Martyn Gregory and Dave Logan took a maximum three points while Tony Mitchell provided an excellent win against Brian Gooch.
