DOMINATOR DOUBLE SENDS WARNING

Waveney Dominators started the week with a commanding 10-0 win over Waveney Tables, thanks to maximums from Stuart Baxter, Martin Peek and an in-from Andy Green.  This was followed by a League Cup quarter final against last season's league runners up Waveney Piranhas.  With both teams fielding their strongest line-ups this made for an intriguing tie and Piranhas were quick to bite when Ryan Moore powered past Stuart Baxter's spin.  Martin Peek levelled with a victory over David Holland and Luke Caswell struck a psychological blow by beating top Piranha Ernie George 21-18 in both sets to give Dominators an early lead.  Peek then turned the thumb screws by beating
Moore in 2, only for Piranhas to fight back when George produced a controlled win against Baxter.  An assertive strategy saw Caswell dispatch Holland to restore the 2 game lead before Peek sealed the win by beating George. With the final score 6-3, the Dominators are stating to live up to their name in both league and handicap competition.

The Misfits suffered badly in the Critters claws but salvaged a single point with an inspired doubles win. However their fortunes changed when they met the Shakers in the League Cup quarter final. Jon Block sent the Shakers reeling as he picked apart players with handicaps both greater and less than his own. One each for both Jeff Drayton and David Etheridge was enough to keep the Misfits level until the final game where Block completed his hat trick by beating Jem Stevens and earning his team a semi final place against the domineering Dominators.

In the remaining League Cup quarter final Thomas Baxter demonstrated that despite his ever improving handicap he’s no trifle to be toyed with. The Waveney Tables resistance was wobbly at best as Baxter, Colin Fortescue and Kevin Baker thrust the Spartans into the semi finals to face the sting of the Arrows who qualified last week.

The Piranhas entertained the Oddbods in their first division tie. Eddie Fuller unfortunately had to withdraw in what was otherwise a cracking game for the Northgate team. Martyn Clarke and Ray Lee won two each and then wrapped up the doubles to earned the Oddbods a respectable draw, with only the towering Ernie George preventing a win against (of should that be for) the odds. The Terminators cut Trimwise down to size thanks to a treble from Paul Wright Jnr and two from David Boatman. Charles Goddard stepped in as a forth double player to help seal the Terminator victory. Mill Lane Spartans meanwhile augmented their League Cup performance with an 8-2 win over the Gorleston Conservatives.

In the second division Sidewaves proved too strong for the Beacons, but young Josh Baxter demonstrated again his prospects by beating David Willgoss and Paula Newrick to gain the two Beacons points. The Kites fared little better as they struggle to contain the Hits. Three a piece for Mick Bayfield and Dave Logan did the majority of the damage and a win for Tony Mitchell against Brian Gooch firmly grounded the Kites on this occasion.
